What is Celebrate Recovery?
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program that helps us deal with life's "hurts, habits and hang-ups." We celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 8 recovery principles found in the Beatitudes and the Christ-centered 12 steps as we become willing to accept God's grace in solving our life problems. Celebrate Recovery is for anyone who has a hurt, habit or hang-up. It is not restricted to people struggling with an addiction. We all have issues that may be interfering with our relationship with God and others. Therefore, we all qualify! Join us as we pursue real life in Jesus Christ and celebrate the recovery only God can bring through God's people and the Word.
Where do I start?
We would love to have you visit our program on Friday nights.
At Killearn, we meet once a week to worship, hear testimonies, participate in small groups and fellowship with others who are working the program. Come for some or all of the sessions. We are currently offering Large Group and Small Group sessions in person and online.
Celebrate Recovery, a program designed and launched by Saddleback Church, is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits. It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory. We all have issues that may be interfering with our relationship with God, so the program is for anyone and everyone. The program is not restricted to people struggling with an addiction. We recommend that you try the program for 5-6 weeks before deciding if the program is a good fit for you.
We also offer step studies where each member of the group is able to, confidentially, work through the Celebrate Recovery 12 Step Program. Step studies are offered as they are organically formed. Contact us for more information about open step studies.
If you have any questions, or if you would like additional information, please contact us. You can find FAQ and additional resources below.

Who are the leaders of Celebrate Recovery?
Recovery is getting back something you have lost. It is getting back to a healthy and happy lifestyle, even if you don’t remember ever having one. All of us found that we had habits, hang-ups and behaviors that were hurting us and standing in the way of our happiness.
What is Celebrate Recovery?
Celebrate Recovery, or CR, is a recovery program that is based on the 12 Steps, which originated in Alcoholics Anonymous. CR was started over 25 years ago by John Baker in southern California. John had gotten sober as a result of the 12 Steps in AA and wanted to bring the effectiveness of the 12 Steps into his church where it could be combined with the principles taught by Jesus Christ. CR was started at this church over 11 years ago and has continued to be of real help to all those who embrace it’s principles.
The program is not just for people with drug and alcohol issues. It is for anyone who is struggling with life issues. These include abuse, eating disorders, dysfunctional family issues, co-dependency and addictions such as drug, alcohol and gambling.
What can I expect?
You will probably be uncomfortable for a few weeks because it is unfamiliar. You will be among approximately 60 adults each Friday. You will spend time at dinner with adults and their families including teens and children. You will hear teaching on the Steps and testimonies of our participants. You will attend small discussion groups that are gender and issues specific.
Is Celebrate Recovery confidential? Do I have to share?
Anonymity and confidentiality are strictly practiced at Celebrate Recovery. We do not share who we have seen here or what they have said with anyone, even spouses. Your sharing is voluntary. You are asked to give your first name so that we can get to know you. You do not need to name the issue you are struggling with if you don’t wish to.
Does it cost anything to attend?
We pass a basket for donations that is the source of all of our funding.
Do I have to attend all sessions on Friday night?
No, you can attend whatever part you wish, as often as you wish.
Who are the leaders of Celebrate Recovery?
The leaders are people who have attended CR for some time and who have completed the 12 Steps and who choose to volunteer to help bring this program to others.
